ITALIANS. NUMBER ONE IN EUROPE FOR THE CONSUMPTION OF MINERAL WATER

World record for Italy in the consumption of bottled water, a turnover of 2,25 billion Euros.

Italy has the lowest water rates in Europe (85 cent a day per family) but also that with the highest consumption (234 euro a year per family) per capita of bottled water, Italy is the second place after Mexico.

Today, water and wine represent as much as 55% on the total amount spent on drinks, this is equal to 43,40 euro a month per family. The average household expenditure on mineral water in Italy varies along the peninsula, from 12,22 euro north-west, 11,38 in north-east, 12,38 euro central italia, 11,53 in the south and 12,43 euro in the islands.

With 192 liters, our country is the first in Europe pro-capita for the consumption of mineral water.
What are the reasons for the use of mineral water?
31,2% of the population does not trust the water that comes from the tap at home, a percentage that rises sharply in the south (up to 60,4% in Sicily), which increases throughout in the cases of alarms associated with drinkability: an example is the case of the water containing arsenic.
